September 1973 – Charlie’s Cousin

Ed Levitt, Oakland Tribune, September 1973

“Carl [Finley] will now handle post-season tickets sales. It’s a tedious task. But the A’s boss has confidence in Carl…’I’ve worked for Charlie’s A’s in just about every office capacity since 1963 in Kansas City. Charlie sends me where there is the most pressure,’ says cousin Carl. Sorting and distributing thousands of playoff tickets can be a pressure job. Carl’s done it before, but he will never get used to it. And he would rather not have anybody know he’s doing it now. So keep it quiet.”

“The Carl Finleys of the world are like that. They take on responsibilities. They knock themselves out. And nobody ever hears about them. Well, it’s about time the people of the Easbay heard about Carl Finley.”
